I have no idea how easy it would be to make a "cancel all tasks" button but it seems to me that adding that would be a temporary work around until the alert system is worked out in more detail. Stockpiles and food related workshops are all in the same burrow. I made new stockpile and it is taking food its just that only children do it, designated haulers and other dwarves that have no specific job assigned dont haul it. Since I started doing this I've only lost one kid (and no real Dwarves) to attackers (and honestly he deserved it for falling in the well intake system). Nothing is linked to any stockpile, barrels are in stockpiles and more barrels at carpenter. Then I let the game run for a second and do the same thing again, just for good measure. Every time I activate a burrow I keep the game paused and manually disable every single Dwarf's task via the task menu. My work around is relatively simple but annoying to deal with. Even if there was, no-one is confined out of any labour. Smoothing is the same labour as engraving. I don't know if there's a more elegant solution, but I just retired the fortress then reclaimed it and it fixed my problems, although I had to re-designate dig sites. Currently Dwarves without currently assigned tasks will immediately obey their new burrow laws while Dwarves with an active task will complete that task, no matter the danger, before following the new burrow schedule. Unless they added a feature where DWARVES refuse to work STONE after 8 years, I'm fairly sure this is unintended. Why aren't my dwarves doing anything I had a problem where my dwarves absolutely refused to dig. This seems to be because Dwarves do not have their current tasks canceled when a burrow is activated, regardless of the burrow's settings. So as of now if you assign all of your civilians to a burrow and activate it they wont all go inside immediately, even if you forbid them from using items from outside the burrow for workshops inside. Thus far there is no fast and easy method to tell all of your civilians to stop what they're doing and get the fuck inside now.
